Our physical therapists work as part of a family-centered team approach to help children with disabling injuries, childhood diseases and chronic disorders. Trained in a variety of treatments, they will help your child become as independent as possible.

How Can A Physical Therapist Help My Child?

Physical therapists focus on enhancing your child’s participation in daily activities at home and school, including:

  • Motor development and gross motor skills
  • Strength and endurance
  • Muscular development and function
  • Functional mobility training
  • Balance and coordination

Specialized services include:

  • Wheelchair evaluations: Wheelchair and adaptive seating evaluations ensure children sit correctly and comfortably in their mobility equipment. The evaluations also assess whether the devices best meet the child’s needs and offer as much independence as possible.
  • Treatment for children with brain injury or disease: Neurodevelopmental treatment to improve movement in children with acquired brain injury or diseases that affect brain function.
  • Therapy sessions: Intensive therapy programs designed to focus on specific goals identified by the family. These programs involve multiple sessions every week for four to eight weeks.
