William G. Wilson, MD, Associate Chair for Education, Department of Pediatrics
Wilson joined UVA’s pediatric department in 1979 and is the chief of the Division of Pediatric Genetics. He is also a consultant to the Virginia Department of Health for newborn screening. Wilson has served on several School of Medicine committees and is passionate about genetics and medical education on all levels.
Wilson’s father was also a doctor. Growing up, Wilson admired his dad’s compassion for his patients and saw medicine as a way to make a difference in their lives. “I viewed medicine as a way to serve and make a difference in the lives of others,” he says.
Wilson loves providing medical genetics services to children and adults and growing UVA’s network of genetics clinics.
