Annely “Elise” Burgamy, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC, is a nurse practitioner with UVA Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. She specializes in managing care for children with neuro oncology conditions and the blood-clotting disorder thrombophilia.
Elise is a native Texan who received a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology from Texas A&M University. After working as a medical assistant and then high school science teacher for three years, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she served as class president and grand marshal for the School of Nursing.
She worked as an inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology and acute care nurse for more than five years in three different healthcare systems in Texas and South Carolina, due to frequent military moves with her husband, an active duty Army serviceman. Elise served as charge nurse, peer coach, student preceptor, and quality improvement committee member and received several DAISY award nominations for nursing excellence during her time as an RN.
Elise completed a Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Before joining UVA, she worked as a nurse practitioner at Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, Texas. At BSW Health, she worked at a general pediatric clinic and weekend urgent care, and later served as a general pediatric provider for the craniofacial multidisciplinary care team. In addition to her patient care work at UVA, she participates in various collaborative projects for healthcare system improvement, precepts NP students, and guest lectures for UVA School of Nursing.
Outside of work, Elise enjoys doing activities such as hiking and biking in the Charlottesville area with her husband, three energetic children, and dog.
