Eliza Holland, MD, is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist who cares for patients admitted to UVA Children’s Hospital. She works closely with pediatric residents and referring physicians to provide quality care to children of all ages. Her interests include the treatment of asthma and neonatal abstinence syndrome, as well as resident and medical student education and advocacy.
Dr. Holland was born in Richmond and grew up in Washington, D.C. She earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from UVA and a master’s degree in anatomy and physiology from Virginia Commonwealth University prior to pursuing a medical degree at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Holland returned to Charlottesville for her pediatric residency at UVA. Following residency, she moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she spent four years as a staff pediatrician at a school-based health clinic within the El Rio Community Health Center system. Dr. Holland then joined the faculty at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center as a pediatric hospitalist. She returned to UVA in 2015.
Dr. Holland and her husband have two teenagers, two dogs, and three ducks. They are head coaches of the Albemarle High School Mountain Bike Club and are very involved with the statewide youth mountain biking league. In addition, Dr. Holland volunteers at the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, mentors UVA undergraduate students and serves on the Community Service Board of the Charlottesville UVA Club. She also spends one week each summer as a volunteer physician at Camp Seafarer, a residential YMCA camp in North Carolina. Dr. Holland enjoys trail running and reading in her free time.
