Kathryn Leigh Idol Xixis, MD, is a board-certified pediatric neurologist who sees patients at the UVA Pediatric Neurology and Epilepsy Clinic and cares for children at University Hospital. She has a special interest in resident and medical school education and is director of the Child Neurology Training Program at UVA Medical School.
Originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, Xixis graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She took a year off to teach underserved middle schoolers before pursuing her medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Xixis then completed a combined residency program in pediatrics and child neurology at Duke University Medical Center.
Outside of the hospital, Xixis enjoys playing piano, playing mandolin and sewing, and spending time with her husband and young son. Their favorite activities include gardening, cooking, traveling and hanging out together.
