Matthew Benin, LPC, provides mental health counseling services to children, adolescents, young adults and their families at UVA Pediatrics Harrisonburg. He
consults and collaborates with pediatricians and other UVA professionals, as well as community-based providers and school systems, to ensure the health and wellbeing of young patients.
Originally from Newark, Delaware, Benin attended college at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, before completing his master's degree in counseling at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg. He joined UVA Pediatrics Harrisonburg in 2010.
Benin and his partner have two children. As a family, they enjoy spending time participating in various sports and activities, preferably outdoors, as well as movie night. Benin also enjoys running, biking, paddling, photography, reading and writing.
In his free time, Benin serves on the Bridgewater, Virginia Planning Commission and coaches youth soccer teams.
