My name is Christine Murray, and I'm a nurse practitioner with the Department of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology. I help take care of children with cancer and blood disorders, such as sickle cell disease. I've always known that I wanted to be in the medical field, and late in my college career, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. It has become my career passion to help take care of patients with sickle cell disease. I have the privilege of being able to work with Dr. Emily Moses, and she and I and a team of social workers and education consultant work together to help coordinate the sickle cell program here at UVA Health, and we serve patients who are diagnosed with sickle cell disease in central Virginia and the surrounding area. I am passionate about helping children and families manage through diagnosis of a life-threatening medical condition. When you come to our clinic to help manage your children's cancer diagnosis, you become like family. You get to meet our healthcare providers, our nursing staff, and have the opportunity to get to know us extremely well due to the fact that these therapies are often provided multiple times a week for long durations. Coming to UVA Health gives your child the opportunity to be treated by expert physicians and nurse practitioners and the most caring and skilled nurses.
