Clinical Trials | Study of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMS/PMDD)
Allopregnanolone and Dynamic GABA-A Receptor Plasticity in Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Responsive Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
The Reproductive Psychiatry Research Program as a part of the Department of Psychiatry & Neurobehavioral Sciences seeks women ages 18-50 who are having regular menstrual cycles for a research study. The purpose of the study is to investigate the biologic causes, biomarkers, and treatments of PMS/PMDD. You may be eligible for this study if: you are 18-50 years old, having regular menstrual cycles, not taking any psychiatric medications, and are not using hormonal contraceptives. Study involves in-person visits throughout the course of a full menstrual cycle (~24-35 days) during which you will complete questionnaires and allow for collection of blood samples. You will also be asked to complete short daily mood questionnaires from your mobile device. If you fall into the category of PMS/PMDD, you may be asked to complete a second cycle of study visits (an additional ~24-35 days) and to take an antidepressant medication or placebo during the second half of your menstrual cycle. Study-related procedures and medications provided at no cost. Interested in participating?
