Clinical Trials | Brain Injury Research Study for Active-Duty Service Members and Veterans with Exposure to Blasts
Employing ultra-high gradient strength MRI to develop an imaging biomarker for interface astroglial scarring in blast exposed military personnel
The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging seeks active-duty service members and veterans aged 18-65 with a history of blast exposure for a research study. The purpose of the study is to better understand how the brain gets injured and how scarring may form after being exposed to small blasts during a person’s career. You may be eligible for this study if: you are an active-duty service member or veteran, have a history of blast exposure and are willing to travel to Charlottesville, VA. The study involves completing assessments and questionnaires, providing a blood sample, and getting an MRI scan of your brain. Procedures will be completed during a one-day study visit lasting about 6-8 hours. Study-related procedures are provided at no cost.
