The RESORB Study: Resorbable Embolization MicroSpheres for OsteoaRthritis Benefit
The Department of Interventional Radiology seeks adults ages 40 and up with knee arthritis for a research study. The purpose of the study is to test the effectiveness of an investigational medical device to treat arthritis of the knee. You may be eligible for this study if: 1. you do not get satisfactory pain relief with usual medicines, and 2. are not in need of knee surgery or knee replacement, and 3. have not had a total or partial knee replacement Study involves: either an investigational medical device or standard corticosteroid knee injection, blood draws, X- rays, MRI and surveys. There are up to 8 study visits: screening, randomization, injection, 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after the injection. The screening visits may take up to 3 hours each, the procedure will take either 1or 5 hours depending on treatment assigned, and each follow-up visit will last 30 to 90 minutes. Study-related investigational device provided at no cost. Participant’s insurance company will be billed for medication, tests and procedures
