Deborah Kay Froh, MD

Deborah Froh, MD, is a pediatric pulmonologist and director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center at UVA. She treats children with cystic fibrosis and other respiratory problems. In addition to her clinical and teaching work she has an active research agenda focused on cystic fibrosis, and her interests include newborn screening and investigating new drug therapies.

Dr. Froh attended the University of Chicago for her undergraduate and medical school degrees. She completed her pediatrics residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. She then moved to California for a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at UC San Francisco. After her training, she joined the faculty at UCSF and served as associate director of its Cystic Fibrosis Center. She came to UVA in 1998 as an assistant professor of pediatrics and became an associate professor in 2002. She has led the Cystic Fibrosis Center since 1999.

Dr. Froh is the Virginia state representative to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is a member of its Newborn Screening Interest Group. She also serves on the workgroup on Newborn Screening for Cystic Fibrosis at the Virginia Department of Health.
