Denise L Jackson, PA

As a board-certified physician assistant in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Denise Jackson, PA-C, MA, CCC-SLP, provides care primarily to pediatric patients with a variety of complex medical conditions, including, but not limited to, congenital embryologic and genetic anomalies, voice disorders, hearing loss, ankyloglossia, dysphagia, tracheostomy dependency and severe sleep apnea. She also assists with training residents and other mid-level providers, performs minor in-office procedures and is a member of pediatric aerodigestive team.

Jackson began her career as a physician assistant specializing in otolaryngology 20 years ago and joined the team at UVA in 2014. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, she worked as a speech language pathologist for four years, specializing in neurocognitive, dysphagia, tracheostomy and laryngectomy rehabilitation. She received her master of physician assistant studies from the University of Florida College of Medicine and a master of arts in speech pathology from the University of Central Florida.

In addition to her clinical work, Jackson has been a guest lecturer for various PA and ARNP programs. She authored one article on the evaluation and management of pediatric neck masses, which was published in the journal Physician Assistants Clinics in 2018.

Jackson makes an effort to prioritize family and faith and enjoys running in her free time.
