Bio & Overview
As an emergency medicine physician, Suzanne Garber, MD, specializes in process and quality improvement.
A native of Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Garber started her career as a software engineer after earning a bachelor’s degree in aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical/space engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992.
Dr. Garber started medical school in 2007, earning her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Twin Cities, in 2011. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York.
Before joining UVA Health, Dr. Garber was a partner with US Acute Care Solutions in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she served as an attending physician and a firefighter physician. She also served as a site quality, risk, and safety director, and was a board member of the National Quality Improvement Committee. She previously was a partner with Emergency Medicine Physicians in Brookhaven, New York.
Outside of work, Dr. Garber enjoys reading, running, downhill skiing, sailplanes, traveling, and watching NFL games.
