Joshua Jakum, MD, is a pediatrician who cares for infants, children, and adolescents. His areas of expertise include child development, medical ethics, and psychopharmacology.
Since arriving in the Virginia Piedmont two decades ago, Dr. Jakum has supported his patients, parents, and the community. He is involved with the PATH Foundation, which supports residents in Culpeper, Fauquier, and Rappahannock counties, and the Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP), which provides patient-centered mental health in pediatric primary care.
Dr. Jakum attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta and completed his pediatric residency at Brown University.
He is regularly honored as a Top Doctor in pediatrics by Washingtonian magazine and Northern Virginia magazine. He has also been voted best pediatrician by the readers of the Culpeper Star-Exponent and Warrenton Lifestyle magazine.
He and his wife have five children. A certified master beekeeper, Dr. Jakum enjoys working in his vegetable garden, orchard, and apiary.

Meet Joshua Jakum, MD
Hi, I'm Dr. Joshua Jakum, a pediatrician with UVA Health here in Culpeper. I'm a pediatrician and I see the range of ages from the newly born all the way through into young adulthood. I believe that I'm most passionate about the opportunity to make a difference, and part of that is being in a community and helping children grow into the most successful individuals that they could be. I think one of the most remarkable things about pediatrics is that my responsibility is to get to know not only the patient but the family. Part of the success of being a pediatrician is the ability to work with all of those individuals, both in that exam room and understanding what's going to happen when they leave me, and my opportunity to have a lasting impression, so that they can achieve the greatest of health. Coming to UVA Health allows our community the access to a network of world-class providers that UVA Health can provide.
