Clinical Trials | A Master Protocol to Evaluate Biomarker-Driven Therapies and Immunotherapies in Previously-Treated Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (Lung-MAP Screening Study)
A MASTER PROTOCOL TO EVALUATE BIOMARKER-DRIVEN THERAPIES AND IMMUNOTHERAPIES IN PREVIOUSLY-TREATED NON-SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER (Lung-MAP Screening Study)
The University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks participants 18 and over with small cell lung cancer that have progressed on their most recent treatment for their cancer. The purpose of this screening study is to test your tumor sample for changes in specific genes (biomarkers). You may start the screening if your current treatment is still helping you or if the cancer has grown or spread. This screening study may lead you to take part in Lung-MAP treatment sub-studies. LUNGMAP is designed to screen and assign participants to either a Lung-MAP treatment sub-study or standard of care treatment. The study has 2 steps: 1. Screening - You provide us with your previous biomarker test results or submit a tumor sample for biomarker testing. 2. Assignment – We use your biomarker test results to match you with a treatment sub-study, if one is available. You will receive a separate consent form for the treatment sub-study. Like all medical screening tests, the results could be wrong. There is a chance of a false positive or a false negative result. If you need to have another biopsy to get a tumor sample, common side effects are a small amount of bleeding at the time of the procedure, bruising, and pain at the biopsy site. Some of the possible benefits of joining a treatment clinical trial may include: • You might have access to a treatment being studied that may not be available to people outside the trial. • The research team will watch you closely, adding an extra layer of care to your health. • Though not common, if the treatment being studied is more effective than the standard treatment, you may be among the first to benefit.
