Denyse R Bailey, MD

Denyse Bailey, MD, is a general pediatrician who enjoys providing care for children of all ages, from newborns to young adults. She is interested in exploring the field of obesity medicine in the near future. She approaches patient care with a focus on individuality. "I see each patient as unique, try to discard any preconceived notions, and engage with them and their families on their terms," she explains.

Dr. Bailey was raised in Jamaica, where her father worked as a veterinarian. From a young age, she was inspired by her father’s veterinary practice, but always knew she wanted to pursue a career in human medicine. Driven by a passion for both the sciences and serving others, she remained committed to a path in medicine. Upon immigrating to the United States, she attended a Quaker school and this experience reinforced her belief in the importance of a life of service, and the power of individuals to foster peace, justice, and compassion.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, followed by an internship and pediatric residency at Schneider Children’s Hospital in New York. Over the past 23 years, Dr. Bailey has practiced in diverse settings across Maryland, Virginia, and Jamaica, including urban, suburban, and rural communities as well as a military base.

During college, Dr. Bailey played the triangle in her marching band. She has traveled to six continents and aspires to visit Antarctica—the seventh—soon.
