Bio & Overview
Lynn M. McDaniel, MD, is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist who joined the UVA Health Children's faculty in 2007. She founded the pediatric hospitalist medicine service, building a skilled and dedicated team that has transformed inpatient care delivery. Her team is committed to delivering exceptional, patient- and family-centered care to children during challenging hospital stays.
McDaniel is actively involved in quality improvement for pediatric inpatient units. She heads the children’s asthma care quality group, earning UVA recognition as a top performer in the University Hospital Consortium. She also leads a multidisciplinary team using electronic health records and UVA’s Rapid Awareness and Management Platform (RAMP) to enhance early detection and prevention of patient deterioration in acute care units.
Nationally, she has participated in quality improvement initiatives through the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Value in Pediatrics program and has served as a quality coach for national projects. As medical director, she champions initiatives to create a safe and healthy work environment for all staff.
McDaniel has facilitated leadership mentoring programs through the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Hospital Medicine and served on the Consortium of Pediatric Hospital Medicine Leaders. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Society of Hospital Medicine.
