Bio & Overview

Vivian Nzedu, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics who has been practicing in the Northern Virginia area since 2010. Currently in Manassas, she specializes in pediatrics primary care. In working with children from birth till they are 21 years old, Dr. Nzedu gets to partner with families to navigate each unique stage with its successes and potential challenges. “Supporting families and each child through these various stages is very rewarding,” she says.

In clinical care, Dr. Nzedu views care as a partnership between families and the pediatrician. Through open communication, her goal is to make sure healthcare decisions are made as a team. This helps cultivate a relationship of trust that builds on each family’s strengths. As the children become young adults, she gets to see them begin to take responsibility for their own healthcare decisions. “Empowering them to make informed and healthy decisions and watching them mature is very fulfilling,” she says.

Dr. Nzedu got her medical degree from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine and Surgery. Knowing that healthy children make wealthy families and nations, the disproportionate effects of preventable illnesses on children inspired her interest in general pediatrics. She went on to complete her pediatric residency and chief residency at the Harlem Hospital Center in New York. Over the next few years, she continued her pediatric career as a faculty member at various university hospitals before relocating to the Northern Virginia area. Currently, she serves as the Chair of Pediatrics at UVA Health Pediatrics in Manassas.

When not in clinic, Dr Nzedu enjoys spending time with her family, watching youth sports, music, singing, and volunteering her time. She also enjoys reading, trying new dishes, and traveling whenever she can. Through the ministry of the African Christian Fellowship, she volunteers and supports short-term medical mission trips to African nations and beyond.
