Dr. Frank is a pediatric cardiac intensivist at UVA; she focuses on caring for critically ill children with heart abnormalities. She was born in New Jersey, and grew up in both New Jersey and Illinois. She graduated from Northwestern University and then joined the Medical Scientist Training Program at UVA, where she earned her medical degree and a PhD in biomedical engineering.
After a pediatrics residency, Dr. Frank did fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine. Most of her training was completed at the University of Utah, with additional advanced cardiac critical care training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed training in 2006, and worked in the cardiac ICU at Primary Children’s Hospital/University of Utah until 2014, when she returned to UVA.
Dr. Frank’s hobbies include gardening and bicycling. As her teenagers are turning into young adults, she and her husband are busy raising dogs, chickens and bees. She enjoys participating in medical mission trips, and has traveled to Lima, Peru, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras, with the Hearts with Hope Foundation.
