Dr. Haizlip is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care. She completed medical school and residency at the University of North Carolina and did her pediatric critical care training at the University of Utah. After working in the UVA Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for more than a decade, her clinical practice is now with the pediatric sedation team.
She is the co-director of the UVA Center for Academic Strategic Partnerships for Interprofessional Research and Education (ASPIRE), where she is involved in the education of both students and faculty on improving teamwork in healthcare teams. She also directs the UVA Center for Appreciative Practice — an organization dedicated to enhancing the work lives of clinicians so that they, in turn, provide better patient care. This work capitalizes on what she learned while earning a master’s degree in applied positive psychology (MAPP) at the University of Pennsylvania.
She was born and raised in North Carolina and married her high school sweetheart. They have three children and two dogs. Her interests include ice hockey and whatever activities her children are currently pursuing.?
