Bio & Overview

Dawn Lammert, MD, PhD, is a pediatric neurologist whose specialties include epilepsy, genetics, rare diseases, and neonatal neurology. She also conducts basic science research on the effects of preterm birth on brain development.

“A diagnosis can impact an entire family or even extended family. My approach to care is to listen and try to understand how a certain condition is impacting both physical health and quality of life,” she says. “I prefer to come to care recommendations through shared decision making with families.”

Dr. Lammert grew up in Wisconsin, where she spent much of her time canoeing, kayaking, camping, and skiing.

She earned her medical degree and a doctorate in neuroscience at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY. She then moved to Baltimore, where she completed residencies in pediatrics and child neurology and clinical fellowships in epilepsy and epilepsy genetics at Johns Hopkins University.

“While I am passionate about research and interested in identifying precision therapies, I firmly believe in sharing this knowledge with patients, empowering advocacy, and making advancements in science and medicine accessible,” she says.
