JayMe M Mech, NNP
Neonatology
Bio & Overview
JayMe Mech, NNP-BC, is a neonatal nurse practitioner who cares for high-risk and premature newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
She has expertise in providing primary palliative care in the NICU and caring for infants with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a disease that primarily affects the intestines of premature babies.
She believes NICU nursing includes incorporating the entire family into the treatment process.
Born and raised near Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mech earned her nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin. She then completed master’s and doctorate of nursing practice degrees from the University of South Alabama.
Mech knew from a young age that she wanted a career in medicine. While she was in nursing school, a close friend had 24-week twins. “That was my first experience with the NICU,” she said. “I fell in love and knew this was my calling.”
