Katherine Mayry, MSN, is a pediatric advanced care practitioner who is passionate about holistic family-centered care. She hopes to help her patients and their families feel empowered to manage chronic disease.
As a child, Mayry encountered numerous health challenges. As a result, she came to experience kindness, genuineness, and compassion from the healthcare workers she saw. In particular, one nurse practitioner inspired her to pursue a career in nursing.
After falling in love with Charlottesville and UVA while her brother attended, Katherine decided to attend UVA as well. After graduating with her BSN, Katherine started working at UVA Health Children’s while working towards her MSN. In the Pediatric ICU, she saw acute and chronic kidney disease and dialysis in pediatrics. This led her to specialize in nephrology.
