Seth A Gerard, MD
Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Bio & Overview
Seth Gerard, MD, is a pediatric emergency room physician.
He views his role as a collaborator, educator, and provider. “I see medicine as a calling — not just a job — and try to bring that sense of purpose and mission to my patients on a daily basis.”
Dr. Gerard grew up in Hershey, PA, where his parents were family medicine-trained emergency physicians. His childhood inspired him to pursue a career in medicine.
He studied biology at Gordon College in Wenham, MA, and returned to his home state to earn his medical degree at Penn State and complete his emergency medicine residency at WellSpan York Hospital. He then completed his pediatric emergency fellowship at Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Northern Virginia. Between his residency and fellowship, he worked as a community general emergency department physician in Central Virginia.
Dr. Gerard has experienced both sides of the medical experience, as a patient himself and as a parent of a patient. “These first-hand experiences have been formative for me as a physician,” he says. “I truly believe in the collaborative relationship between physicians and families as the core of medical care.”
