Bio & Overview
William Harmon, MD, is an associate professor of clinical pediatrics and the director of pediatric critical care services at UVA Health Children's.
Dr. Harmon was born in upstate New York and attended Alleghany College in Pennsylvania for his undergraduate education and the State University of New York at Syracuse for medical school. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Rochester and then moved to Chicago for a pediatric critical care fellowship at Northwestern University. He completed a second fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, and then joined the faculty there. He later moved to the University of Miami and served as director of pediatric cardiac critical care and director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Holtz Children’s Hospital. He came to UVA Health Children's in 2013.
Outside of work, Dr. Harmon and his wife enjoy traveling and exploring all the outdoor and cultural experiences that Charlottesville and Virginia have to offer. He has participated in a number of charitable trips to provide perioperative and consultative cardiac care in such places as the Caribbean, Central America, and Africa. Here at UVA Health Children's, Dr. Harmon focuses his efforts on promoting the best, state-of-the-art care in our pediatric and pediatric cardiac intensive care units.
