Day of Remembrance

Held annually since 1995, the UVA Health Children's Day of Remembrance celebrates the lives of children. We gather together to honor their courage. We remember the love they shared with their families and the team members of UVA Health Children's.

Who May Attend the Service?

Parents, family members and friends of all UVA Health Children’s patients who have died within the past two years are invited to attend.

During the event, families are invited to participate in any or all opportunities to commemorate the lives of family members who have died. Families are invited to bring mementos of their children to place on remembrance tables.

We invite you to come early to connect with other families and members of the UVA Children’s Health Hospital teams. There will be opportunities for families to create legacy items, engage in contemplative and creative commemorative activities, or explore the education center together. Chaplains, Child Life Specialists, and Social Workers, along with other members of the UVA Health Children’s Team will also be in attendance. Parking is available in front of the event space, and the building is equipped for those with disabilities to easily access.

This year, the service will be held in-person Sunday, October 11 from 2-4 p.m

Helping Children Cope
