Highlights
Meet Pediatric Gastroenterologist Jeremy Middleton, MD
My name is Jeremy Middleton. I'm a pediatric gastroenterologist. As a pediatric gastroenterologist, I see a variety of children with GI, liver, and biliary problems. In addition to that, I see children who have nutritional needs. The population of patients that I see the most of are kids with chronic inflammatory disease such as Crohn's and ulcerative colitis. I didn't always know that I wanted to be a physician, but I did know that I wanted to be involved with people. I soon realized that the field of medicine was what I needed, and as I progressed through medical school I recognized that taking care of children was really what inspired me the most. A new patient to our clinic can expect first a phone call from our schedulers, and then a trip to our beautiful outpatient Battle Building space. It is a child-friendly facility and you'll be welcomed by our front desk staff and then by our medical assistants who will bring them back. Communication to me is probably the most important aspect of a single patient encounter, so it's breaking down all of the complex subjects that we take for granted into layman speak so that everybody in the room can know exactly what we're thinking and what the plan of attack is. One of the reasons I went into pediatric gastroenterology is that I get to see patients across their life, and so making these relationships over time is one of the most special things about my job.
