Thomas L’Ecuyer, MD, is a professor of pediatrics and division chief of pediatric cardiology at UVA. He specializes in heart failure and transplant, as well as caring for patients with cardiomyopathy and family history of cardiomyopathy (hypertrophic, dilated, and restrictive), patients with pulmonary hypertension, and infants with complex single ventricle conditions.

Dr. L’Ecuyer earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri, and completed his residency training in pediatrics at UVA. He completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Iowa, and served on the faculty there for several years. He then moved to Detroit, where he started as an assistant professor of pediatrics at Wayne State University School of Medicine and joined the Children’s Hospital of Michigan as an associate in cardiology. He became director of the heart failure/transplant program at the Children’s Hospital in 2005, and was promoted to associate professor of pediatrics at Wayne State in 2006. He joined UVA in 2012.
